Ah, summer: it’s by far my favourite season. Long days, sunshine (sometimes!), and floaty dresses.
Finding the perfect summer dress can feel a chore for me. Being blessed in the chest department can make summer dress shopping a challenge.
I can’t be bothered with skimpy straps that mean I have to wear a strapless bra – ugh – I don’t think a comfortable strapless bra exists!
Some necklines are so deep they are indecent. I can’t be bothered to faff with clips, or a top underneath to protect my modesty (and who wants extra layers when it’s warm?).
I love this dress from SimplyBe, which ticks my summer dress style boxes: wide straps so no bra hassles, and a neckline that has a generous bust in mind.
The floral pattern reminds me of wildflowers in a meadow – beautiful! – and do you see the row of little daisies? – divine!
It looks like a top and skirt – but no, it’s definitely a dress! It’s a layered cami dress: the top part hangs loosely over the middle to give the effect of a top. The dress has an elastic waist, pulling you in, and the skirt part of the dress then skims over the bottom part of the body. The dress is the perfect compromise between flattering the figure by highlighting the body shape, hugging the curves, while skimming over lumps and bumps (and who doesn’t have those sorts of areas, no matter what body shape you are!).
Ironing is something I avoid in normal life, let alone on holiday. I love clothes that you can roll up in the suitcase and look fab when you arrive at your destination – just unpack, get dressed, and look fabulous! This dress certainly fits the bill.
When I go on holiday I love to do loads of walking, soaking up the atmosphere and seeing the sights. The way I’ve styled the dress here is perfect for holiday sightseeing on a city break – the Merrell sandals I’m wearing are super comfy and pretty for ‘sensible’ footwear! – perfect for miles of walking.
With its laid-back, slightly hippy vibe, I can see the dress being perfect festival wear, too.
Or why not pop on a pair of wedges, and the look would also be perfect for casual drinks, perhaps with a pair of wedges.
With the black, orange, yellow, and white shades in the dress there are loads of accessories you can pair it with to style it up or down. A cardi in any of these colours would be great in the event the temperatures get a bit chilly!
The statement necklace I’m wearing in the pictures is the ideal complement to the dress – the hues of the leather strands set off the dress perfectly.
