My Word for 2016: Blossom!

In 2016…I aim to blossom and grow.

In 2015 my aim was to thrive. I would like to build on my achievements – with Hugo’s Legacy, with #MatExp, and personally.

I would like to flourish, to realise my potential.

I don’t believe in making New Year’s Resolutions. I’ve thought that if you want to make changes to your life why wait until January 1? It’s not like new year has any magical special powers to help you achieve your goals. It’s about mindset, determination, passion.

And life is fragile. We never know what is around the corner.

That is why I prefer to choose a word. It is like an overarching aspiration for the year. Choosing a word gives me focus but flexibility, too.

If you would like to find out why I have chosen this word please check out my Steller story

Have you chosen a word for 2015?

Thank you all so very much for reading my blog this year, for reading about Hugo, and for all your love and support.

I hope 2016 brings you all you wish for.

Choosing a word is a much better idea than making a resolution. And you are right, it also acknowledges that we can’t control everything that might happen.

I like your approach, so much better than resolutions, which, as you say, are easily broken. That is a wonderfully positive word to aim for. Hope you achieve your goals and dreams this year #theprompt

Wonderful word, so positive and full of potential. I don’t make resolutions either, but I have been thinking about an over-arching goal and I think that my word will be simplify. Now to start grappling with how I actually achieve it, I’ve done enough talking about it! Wishing you all good things for 2016 Leigh, thank you so much for sharing with #ThePrompt x

Simplify is a great word, Sara – so many ways to interpret it, too. Wishing you all the best for 2016 xxx

A wonderful word for the new year and for continuing your work Leigh. Last year mine was simplify. This year it is nurture and grow, like you develop the things I want to do, but in a gentle and focussed way that allows room to loo after myself and my loved ones. Wishing you all the best, Hayley

I’m not one for making resolutions either, other than generally trying to declutter my life rather than adding even more things to do to an already full list. I do like the idea of having a word, though – I’ll have to think about that carefully. ‘Blossom’ is a great sentiment to aim for.

Blossom… such a beautiful, positive word and so evocative. Like you I don’t make resolutions and prefer to choose a word for the year to inspire and drive me. But YOU also continue to inspire me and so many others Leigh and I wish all good things for you in 2016 – here’s to an amazing year!
