Be a Not-So Selfish Mother in a Mother Tee

I have a wardrobe of pretty dresses I love to wear but do you know what? My current favourite items are my Selfish Mother tee and sweatshirt.

I’d been spotting the Mother tee on social media for a while, and was delighted to find one in my Mumsnet Blogfest goodybag last month.

There are a diverse range of colours available – mine is a charcoal grey with ‘Mother’ in silver writing. I was especially chuffed to discover that a size medium fit, and is even slightly baggy!

Being winter it’s not exactly t-shirt weather but I make mine wearable for the season by adding a long-sleeved top beneath it. The charcoal grey is a darker shade than I would typically wear, so my favourite top to wear beneath my Mother tee is a sparkly purple one. It looks fab with a denim skirt, if I say so myself!

I am especially proud of my Mother tee because with no living children the fact that I am a mother can feel a little strange sometimes. But, thanks to my beautiful Hugo I am a proud mother and I always will be.

I love how you can see my Hugo star necklace with my Mother tee in this picture.

Profits from the sale of Mother tees and sweatshirts are donated to organisations helping women in war zones rebuild their lives, meaning the items are also a way to show solidarity with those less fortunate than ourselves.

There are a range of slogans available in the shop, including Maman (helping refugees in Calais); Sista (to represent sisterhood rather than just genetic siblings!); Human (for the Refugee Council, and also features in the men’s range); as well as ‘kin’, ‘girl’ and ‘boy’ for children.

I wanted to do my bit too, so I bought a Mother sweat. I chose an ink one (it’s a deep denim blue) with ‘Mother’ in light grey.

It’s so cosy I have been getting a lot of wear out of it in the past week since it arrived – and wearing it with huge pride!

My #MatExp co-conspirator Flo saw the pictures of mine on social media and has indulged in a ‘Human’ tee and a ‘Mother’ sweat too – doesn’t she look fab? What is especially wonderful is that Flo is a consultant obstetrician and has a very important role to play in helping women become mothers.

A tee or sweat would make a perfect Christmas present – a stylish item that also helps people in need has got to be a winner, so why not have a look on their site?

Sizing can be a pickle when buying online whether buying for yourself or for someone else – I am usually a 14/16 (and a 34F) and as I say above the medium is fine – it’s quite a relaxed fit. With the sweat I bought a large, which is a 12/14 – I prefer a snug rather than a loose baggy fit. I hope that helps!

So go on, be a not-so selfish mother in a Selfish Mother tee – be stylish while helping support some very worthy causes.
