Friday Favourites: Autumn Style

Autumn is here! It can be a funny month in terms of knowing what is best to wear because while the mornings and evenings can be really chilly we can enjoy glorious, warm sunshine during the day – just like we have been fortunate enough to have during this week.

During these transitional seasons it’s handy to have some items in your wardrobe that you can layer up or down to help strike that happy balance between freezing and roasting!

On holiday in Devon a couple of weeks ago I popped in to a lovely little boutique called Casa Magnolia which is in the picturesque village of Chagford, on the edge of Dartmoor. I tried on some items and there were two items I just had to have. Beautiful colours, great cut and flattering shape, and perfect for autumn/winter wear (and even the other half agreed they were perfect for me!). Without further ado, I hereby present this week’s Friday Favourites: Autumn style!

Both the dress and tunic below are from a small independent brand called Lily and Me. I was aware of the brand – my favourite summer dress (pictured below) is from there. That dress came from a small boutique in my home town, and I’d never seen the brand anywhere else.

I chose this beautiful dress: purple, pink, blue, and green bursts on a navy background will cheer up any grey day. The scoop neck is deep enough to be flattering but not so low I will be worried about my modesty. It’s a perfect length for my 5′ 3″ frame to be worn to work or an occasion where I don’t want to have to be concerned about flashing too much leg!

The full skirt gives a good swoosh when doing a twirl!

I feel so feminine in it, and it shows off all the right curves – I feel very va-va-voom! At £48 considering the quality and the amount of wear I know I will get out of it, it’s a really good buy.

I’ve teamed it with this complementary necklace from White Stuff. On my feet are my burgundy Clarks brogues, and boots would work equally well.

The frock is perfect for the milder weather, and can be teamed with cosy cardigans when the temperature drops.

The second item I treated myself to was this tunic in shades of blue and teal. It’s a perfect fit for my figure, hugging the right bits and hiding the bits I’m not so confident with.

One of my favourite aspects of the tunic is the soft fabric. It is so cosy! The fabric is so luxurious it feels like it should cost much more than the £42 price tag. Perfect for the milder days, and can be layered with a long sleeve t-shirt underneath when it gets colder.

I felt especially good wearing the tunic with my blue skinnies, this incredible yellow statement necklace from Joules, and my boots – it makes quite the ensemble don’t you think? The colours really pop.

If you ever find yourself in Chagford, do pop in to Casa Magnolia. You’re guaranteed to receive courteous service, and nothing is too much trouble. Just don’t blame me when you’ve spent too much money in there! 😉

And of course, thank you to the cat for providing a beautiful background to the photos 🙂
